The medicated dog shampoo with hydrocortisone - not another oatmeal wash

1% hydrocortisone and colloidal silver, left on the coat for five minutes. For the dog who is scratching again by the next morning.

  • Hydrocortisone, where the pet-store wash has oatmeal: 1% hydrocortisone calms the itch while the lather sits for five minutes.
  • Something to use between vet visits: Antifungal and antibacterial care for the yeast and allergy itch behind the scratching.
  • A softer, cleaner-smelling coat: Oat extract and a light herbal scent - not that medicated smell.
  • No parabens, no dyes: Cruelty-free and biodegradable, gentle enough for regular baths.

She finally stopped chewing her paws

Two baths in two weeks and the licking has calmed right down.

His coat has never felt this soft

Clean, soft and a light smell - and far less scratching after.

It beats the shampoo from the vet

Less itching than the other shampoos we tried, and it lasts for days.

Active ingredients: 1% hydrocortisone and colloidal silver nanoparticles (0.003%). Also oat extract, a coconut oil cleanser, vitamin E and a light herbal fragrance.

No parabens, no chemical dyes, cruelty-free and biodegradable.

Brush the coat first to lift loose fur and dander. Wet your dog, work several handfuls into the coat from front to back, and leave the lather on for five minutes before rinsing until the water runs clear.

The five minutes is the part that matters - it is contact time on the skin.

Twice a week until the irritation settles, then as often as your dog needs it. Most itchy dogs are more comfortable for several days after each bath.

It is relief you repeat, not a single-bath cure.

Dogs with seasonal or grass allergies, yeasty or musty-smelling skin, hot spots, dry flaky patches, or the constant paw licking that comes with all of them.

If the itch is coming from food, thyroid or parasites, a bath will soothe it but your vet needs to treat the cause.

Try a small patch first on toy breeds and sensitive skin, and rinse straight away if you see redness. Keep it out of the eyes and stop use if irritation develops.

Speak to your vet before using it on puppies, pregnant dogs, or alongside prescribed skin treatment.

A 100 ml (3.38 fl oz) bottle with an easy flip cap that does not leak if it tips over in the tub. Light herbal scent that rinses clean.

Big dogs go through a bottle faster - the multi-bottle packs are the better buy.

The scratching that keeps you both up at night

It starts with a bit of licking at the paws. Then the thump of a back leg at two in the morning, the red patch on the belly, the musty smell that comes back two days after a bath. Regular shampoo washes the coat and leaves the itch exactly where it was.

Itchy dog skin is usually inflamed skin with yeast or bacteria taking advantage of it. Calm the inflammation and deal with what is growing on it, and the scratching has less to feed on.

That is what five minutes of medicated lather is for.

Five minutes in the lather is the treatment

A quick rinse cannot do much for itchy skin. This shampoo is made to sit on the coat for five minutes, so the hydrocortisone and silver have time on the skin where the itch actually starts. Brush first, lather from front to back, count to five minutes, rinse until the water runs clear. Twice a week until the scratching settles.

Hydrocortisone and silver, in a shampoo

Most dog shampoos clean the coat and stop there. This one carries 1% hydrocortisone to calm the itch and redness, and colloidal silver for the yeast and bacteria that keep irritated skin going - so a bath becomes something you do for the skin, not just the smell.

Soft coat, light scent, no medicated smell

Owners mention it again and again: the coat comes out soft and shiny and the dog smells clean rather than clinical. Oat extract and a coconut-based cleanser keep it from stripping the coat, so regular baths do not leave the skin drier than before.

What owners see after a few baths

The same dog's belly, red and inflamed at the start and calm with use

Red, bumpy belly skin, calmed

The patch a dog scratches raw is usually the belly and inner legs. Two medicated baths a week, with the lather left on for five minutes, give that skin the contact time a quick rinse never does.

From holding your nose to a face full of fur

That musty, yeasty dog smell comes back two days after an ordinary bath because the skin underneath has not changed. Owners say the clean smell lasts - and the cuddles come back.

Paw chewing, then finally some sleep

Licking and chewing at the paws is often the first sign of allergy itch, and the first habit owners notice easing once the baths are regular.

Every dog is different, and itch with a cause inside the body needs your vet. These are the changes owners describe most.

Week 3-4
Once the skin has settled, bathe as often as your dog needs it.
Ongoing
Keep a bottle ready for allergy season, when the itch comes back.

Questions

That is what most owners use it for. It is a medicated wash, not a prescription - keep doing whatever your vet has you on, and use this for the itch in between.

Twice a week until the itching and redness settle, then as needed. Leave the lather on for five minutes each time before rinsing.

Patch-test a small area first on toy breeds and sensitive skin, and rinse at once if the skin reddens. Ask your vet before using it on puppies or alongside prescribed skin treatment.

It calms the itch, but itchy skin comes back while the trigger is still around. Most owners keep up two baths a week through allergy season.

A medicated bath can soothe the skin, but itch that starts in the diet or with the thyroid needs your vet to treat the cause.

Then it is not for you and the guarantee covers it. Skin problems have many causes, and no shampoo suits every dog.

Finally stopped the constant licking

Bathed my dog twice in two weeks after she started chewing her paws raw. I worked the foam in for the full time. The smell is light, not that cloying medicated one, she only scratched once afterwards, and her fur feels softer now.

Real relief for yeast-related itching

My dog has struggled with yeast for as long as we have had her. We bathe her weekly, and after using this she is noticeably more comfortable and itch-free for the first several days.

It definitely helped

My Rottweiler gets itchy patches that look like cradle cap and scratches until they bleed. We have tried about five other itch relief shampoos and none quite worked. We have seen a real improvement with this one, and it has a light apple scent.

My dog isn't itching

She is very yeast-itchy and always scratching. This helps more than the shampoos we have been buying from the vet. It is not permanent, but she stays itch-free for days compared to how she was before.

Helps calm the spring flare-ups

My dogs only struggle when allergy season hits and they start non-stop scratching. A regular shampoo does not do the job. This soothes the irritation and gives him real relief, though we keep bathing twice a week while the grass is out.
